About

My name is Lynley Pillay and yes it’s a strange name for a guy (you can thank my mother for that).
the Honest One is simply a name I came up to write under since it typified what I write about.

We live in a world that minds its P’s and Q’s and very rarely do we just say things as they are meant in our heads. We tend to censor. This is not always good therefore I write what i write.

This blog is about being honest, and yes my view point might be skewed and sometimes ones sided, but hey so is everyone’s. They just not being honest about it đŸ™‚
I am a christian therefore at times that will be the theme in a post, please don’t think I am forcing religion down your throat. I respect everyone’s beliefs.
Anyway hope you enjoy the blog. I love to read the comments so please feel free to comment.

Hello! Always great to have another SA friend. I have not been to your great country as of yet, but my Father did work in the US Consulate in Cape Town and out of all the globe-trotting he did, he has always said that Cape Town is his favorite place on the planet! Have a great day!

Hi welcome here. Yes Cape Town is indeed a beautiful place. I am not sure if it was planned this way, but lately I have been watching a lot of American tv shows and for some reason they all separately mentioned South Africa in them. I never realised that people actually know about South Africa. Well maybe it was simply coincidence but nevertheless here we are.

      Enjoy your day

Of course Americans know about South Africa. Your history and the life of Nelson Mandela has made your country something that has informed many or our movies, but also our newspaper articles in the past. For blacks in America, Mandela’s story is nothing short of inspirational. Then when Orprah started her school in SA, she put you on the hearts and minds of Americans across the country.

I noticed that you had subscribed to my blog, and I also noticed that you are a Christian. I want to thank you for supporting my blog and for your courage in doing so. I am also a believer (have shredded the religious part but kept all of the Jesus part), but because my writing is intended to touch the hearts of a variety of people without the “Christianese” language, I don’t get many “Christians” who admit to reading my blog. For that, I just want to thank you.

I love your blog, by the way, and will visit often. All the best!

Thanks, i too have ‘shredded the religious part and clung to the Jesus Part” lol interesting way of saying it.
I agree that we need to connect with people without the Christianese as I think it simply dilutes the purity of life itself. Look out tomorrow for a link in the post to what I think is an hilarious satirical but truthful rendition of the latest praise songs…..

Hi, enjoyed your post on interviews as I’m currently out of work and having to go through the rigmarole all over again! I’m 26 and I’ve moved around a bit, and that’s seen as a negative for work purposes. Fair enough, but do they really expect everyone to settle straight out of Uni?
Also, I’m a Christian, and was recently shown that “Wrong Worship” video, enjoyed it very much, and will confess to having sung some of those songs in my life at times! Except for the hairdo one, my hair’s rubbish!

Look forward to reading more of your bloggings in future. Pete.

Hello and welcome to “thehonestone”. Someone also just recently sent the link for the “wrong worship” video, to me.

I really liked the tongue in cheek way they approached a unspoken of trend these days.

Anyway Welcome and catch you in the comments
